Jerome S. Solomon joined the firm as counsel in 2000. He began his career at the Wall Street firm of Cook Nathan & Lehman and, prior to becoming counsel to ZEK, was a partner with Gallet Dreyer & Berkey, LLP for a period of ten years. His time was, and continues to be, devoted to estate and trust administration, estate litigation, estate planning and family wealth building and transfers. Jerry’s high regard in the field is evidenced by his selection by his peers as Co-Chair of the Estates, Trusts & Surrogate’s Court Practice Section of The New York County Lawyers Association and Chair of its Legislative Committee.

Jerry was designated as a “Superlawyer” for the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 by the publishers of Law & Politics. To achieve this designation, the publisher determines the lawyer is in the top five (5%) percent of the lawyers in the field of Trusts & Estates.

By reason of his solid reputation among the legal community, Jerry has been appointed as a guardian by the last nine Surrogates of New York County to act in probate, accounting and guardianship matters. In a recent decision, the New York County Surrogate described the quality of services rendered by Mr. Solomon as follow:

The guardian ad litem appointed to represent the interests of the conservatee has done an outstanding job. He examined his ward’s resources, assessed her current and future needs and thoughtfully analyzed the guidelines for transfers developed in case law… and set forth in statute… The guardian has applied these standards to the facts at bar and in light of the conservatee’s ample income, her projected needs, the estate planning objectives to be achieved and the continuing pattern of family trust agreements which ultimately benefit the same distribute.

Being involved in the community and charitable matters is of great importance to Jerry. He has been honored by the Village of Ridgewood with the “Pride of Ridgewood Award” and by the Bergen County with its “County Executive Award” for his volunteer efforts. As chair of the Planning Board of the Village of Ridgewood for ten years, he attained valuable insights in planning and real estate development. As Vice-President and director of the Ridgewood Free Public Library, Jerry was involved with developing a county-wide computer library system.

Jerry served as an Advisory Director of the Harvard Theatre Collection at Harvard University and as Director of the Heart Research Foundation at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

Keeping the family tradition alive, he has a son on the faculties of University of Georgia Law School and Vanderbilt University School of Law and a daughter who is a former associate at an international New York law firm.
