Nestor Rodriguez Smyt is an Associate in ZEK's litigation group, focusing on banking and financial services and commercial litigation. Prior to joining ZEK, Nestor was an associate at Wiggin and Dana where he represented clients in a variety of commercial litigation and intellectual property matters, including antitrust, bankruptcy, insurance, patent infringement, and unfair competition. He is experienced in managing discovery and drafting pleadings, substantive and procedural motions, and memoranda of law. Nestor conducted discovery, drafted a trial script, and supported deposition designations for a major antitrust lawsuit that resulted in a unanimous jury verdict for a major video game developer. He propounded and responded to written discovery for a Japanese industrial conglomerate to successfully defend its tablet products during an International Trade Commission Section 337 investigation. Nestor also updated appendices of the 2024-2025 and 2022-2023 editions of the “Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices, Business Torts and Antitrust” of the Connecticut Practice Series. Nestor earned his J.D., with a certificate in Intellectual Property, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2021. In law school, Nestor served as the articles editor for the Connecticut Journal of International Law and as the president of the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Society. He earned his B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2016, with a concentration in Biomaterials. After college and prior to attending law school, Nestor served as a project engineer for an international industrial elevator company. In his free time, Nestor enjoys cooking and trying new foods, learning languages, and traveling.
