Scott B. Brenner, Associate

Attorney Scott B. Brenner

Scott Brenner is an Associate in ZEK’s litigation group and has extensive experience representing clients in many business and commercial matters. His practice includes issues concerning breach of contract, misappropriation of business assets, financial disputes, and anti-money laundering/financial crime investigations. He also has more than a decade of experience in consumer financial services litigation, with a focus on both residential and commercial property disputes.

Prior to joining the Firm, Scott was an associate at Akerman, where he gained substantial experience representing mortgage lenders, loan servicers, and other financial institutions in both state and federal courts. He routinely prepared and argued motions, negotiated and finalized settlements, and represented clients in trial and appellate court proceedings. For example, he obtained a bench ruling following an evidentiary hearing, which denied the property owner's claim for compensation pursuant to New Jersey’s reversal of judgment or execution statute. Scott managed aspects of an international arbitration proceeding between global chemical corporations before the International Chamber of Commerce. He secured quiet title judgments on numerous properties, resolving complex ownership disputes and establishing clients’ clear title. He also successfully defended multiple loan servicers against allegations of mortgage fraud, predatory lending, violations of FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, and TILA, as well as claims under state consumer protection laws and general business statutes.

After earning his B.S. from Cornell University, Scott was a litigation legal assistant at Cravath, Swaine & Moore where he assisted with depositions, motion practice, and trials. Scott’s experience at Cravath, including assisting at a pro bono prisoner’s rights trial, inspired his decision to pursue a law degree. He witnessed firsthand the power of advocacy to drive meaningful change. Scott obtained his J.D. from Hofstra Law School, where he served on the editorial board of the Hofstra Law Review.

Outside of the office Scott enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, jogging, and playing chess. He is an avid Mets, Islanders, and Miami Dolphins fan.
