ZEK bolsters its E-Discovery and Cyber-Security Practices with addition of Special Counsel Daniel B. Garrie

Zeichner Ellman & Krause LLP is pleased to announce that Daniel B. Garrie, Esq. has become Special Counsel to ZEK, where he will concentrate his practice on e-discovery, forensic, and cyber-security issues, and be based in ZEK’s New York Office.

Mr. Garrie is Executive Managing Partner at Law & Forensics, a legal consulting firm specializing in software, cyber security, e-discovery, data breach, trade secret, and digital forensic issues across various industries. Prior to Law & Forensics, Daniel was the Worldwide Director of Electronic Discovery & Information Governance at Charles River Associates, where he managed a global practice focusing on compliance, information governance and electronic discovery for enterprises worldwide. Before that, Daniel founded and sold several technology start-ups, and worked for several large government agencies and banks, focusing on Internet security, e-commerce, and emerging search technologies.

Daniel is a thought leader in the fields of information security, forensics, e-discovery, information governance, and digital privacy, and a seasoned e-discovery Special Master, forensic mediator, and neutral who has dealt with disputes both in the United States and abroad. He is a member of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) Panel of Distinguished Neutrals; is a Neutral on the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre; is Chair of the Forensic and E-Discovery Panel at Alternative Resolutions Center (ARC) in Los Angeles, California; and is an Arbitrator with the London Court of International Arbitration. Mr. Garrie has served as an Electronically Stored Information Liaison, Neutral and Expert for the L.A. Superior Courts, Second Circuit, Third Circuit, Seventh Circuit, and the New York Supreme Court. He is a fellow of the Ponemon Information Privacy Institute, and a member of several working groups for the Sedona Conference on Electronic Discovery.

Daniel has published over 100 articles on various areas of legal scholarship. He is co-editor (together with Yoav M. Griver of ZEK) of Dispute Resolution and e-Discovery, and co-author (together with Judge Francis M. Allegra of the United States Court of Federal Claims) of Plugged In: Guidebook to Software and the Law, two legal treatises published by Thomson Reuters Westlaw. Daniel is the current Editor-in-Chief of both the Journal of Legal Technology Risk Management (LTRM) and the Journal of Law & Cyber Warfare (JLCW).

Mr. Garrie holds a B.A. and M.A. in Computer Science from Brandeis University and a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the states of Washington, New York, and New Jersey, and in several federal courts.
